A practical website monitoring checklist

What to check after a launch—and what to keep watching.

A successful deploy is a starting point. Certificates expire, configuration changes, and servers become unreachable. These are the checks worth keeping in your routine.

1. Check the public website

Monitor the domain visitors actually use. A healthy server process does not always mean the public website is reachable. Review downtime and recovery results alongside your hosting logs.

2. Watch certificate expiry

Automatic renewal can fail. Check your certificate expiry and investigate warnings before visitors encounter a broken secure connection.

3. Review security headers and exposed files

After configuration changes, review HTTP security headers and confirm that sensitive files are not publicly accessible. Treat a finding as something to investigate; a clean scan is not proof of complete security.

4. Make alerts actionable

Choose a notification destination your team reads. Agree on who investigates and where incident updates belong. Keep your contact details current.

5. Match the interval to the stakes

Scheduled monitoring can miss short outages between checks. SecureShield checks every 60 minutes on Free, 30 minutes on Starter, 15 minutes on Business, and every minute on Agency. Choose the interval that meets your monitoring needs.
